Moving to Greenwich...

Hi

I'm moving to Greenwich fairly soon and I wondered if anyone had a recommendation for which hospital to get referred to.

I assume that if I do nothing, I'll just get allocated to a hospital trust within the area my postcode dictates, and I'll have no idea whether the Haematology department has any particular expertise.

Has anyone in a similar situation pushed for a particular hospital? I'm not sure how I'd go about it, or indeed which hospital to push for!

Rod

Hi Rod, I think your nearest would be Kings? There are quite a few members of CMLSg who are currently treated there so I expect they will be able to advise better than I.

I recently moved to East London from North London and although I had to re-register with a local GP practice, I did not need to change my specialist care from Hammersmith Haematology Unit. I still travel quite a distance across to West London to attend HH- always have done- and would not like to change. I was referred there by my North London Hospital after my diagnosis as although it was quite a way to travel, it was considered the best for CML. I am glad I did not argue with that.

Ask your current consultant if you can choose where your are referred to for your specialist care.... maybe better to do that before you move?

Sandy

Thanks, Sandy, I'll ask at my next visit.
