Concerning BCR-ABL1 upward

Categories:

Hi All,

I am new to this forum, and I was diagnosed with CML last year. I have the below queries and would really appreciate if someone could share their feedback.

Clinical History:
Feb 2024 - Diagnosed with CML
Mar 2024 - Started Imatinib 400mg daily to date

BCR-ABL results:
Feb 2024 - 19.72% (during diagnosis)
May 204 - 0.124%
Jul 2024 - 0.001% (achieved DMR)
Jan 2025 - 0.017%

Demographics:
38 years old, Female, married and have two kids under 10, living in south east Asia

My Queries:
I am really worried for the increase in the latest BCR ABL result. Though I read in other threads this is normal, but this a more than a 1log increase. I will be meeting my oncologist in few days, but I wanted if anyone else experience a similar increase after achieving DMR.

I wouldn't worry, but would suggest you get another test in 3 months rather than 6. As an 18 year veteran of these test results, I'd say that your July 2024 result which showed a 2 log drop in 2 months looks a bit suspect. 0.017% is still a great result. Try to get a retest in March/April and see what it says.

Thank you for your feedback, I feel relieved. My next appointment with oncologist is due tomorrow, will see what his thought on this

It’s normal I think. I am from India and being treated in Chennai. I have attached my progress so far. It’s like sea wave up down is normal. I am going to have another test next week.

Your numbers are great. I agree with Alistair that the .001 reading could be suspect but that said you cruised ahead through MMR in record time.
You might be able to achieve MR5 OR CMR soon. And if you get there that fast you have great prospects for TFR.
