Hi everyone, I am looking for some info from someone who's taking Dasatinib onnalternate days and if its still effective.
I have been on treatment for CML for past 4 years now. First 7 months of diagnosis, I was on Immatinib, but after 7 months, it was causing me liver issues, so I had a pause from meds, to sort out inflammation, then got put on Dasatinib. I have beennon 100mg since. I also suffer from chronic pain problems, they call it costal condtitis, its like inflammation and pain on my right side of my chest and goes around my shoulder blade, shoulder socket, the pain has worsen since i have been on medication. They have had loads of tests and scans to rule out anything else. They explained that the medication seems to be affecting this problem ( aparently i am 1 of 18 people in tge world that this has happened), worsen inflammation. Now as I have been on remission since I started treatment, and was few months on negative response. I am really happy for this, but also live in alot of pain, for the past 2 months, my heamatologist decided to lower the dosage to 50mg per day to see if tgat aliviates the pain, she also suggested I could carry on taking tge 100mg, on alternate days( missing 1 day). Buy wanted just to take it daily. I seem to feel better when I do the alternate day, as I had a rest. But I don't know what way will be more effective, or if anyone knows what way has worked and still effective. I am due to have my tests again in a Month, and wouldn't want make things worse.
Thanks

Hey, thanks for your reply, and sorry for perhaps the confusion, but what it's that since the heamatologist have found out that the 100mg dosage might be affecting the inflammation on my chest, for some very strange reason, she suggested for me to take the medication on alternate days, like take it on the Monday, missing Tuesday, and so on, that way I can have 1 day break, otherwise just take 50mg daily. The problem I seem to have is that, when I been taking the 50mg daily, the pain seems to be more intense, than when I am missing 1 day, and taken the 100mg soo my question was that if by taking the meds( Dasatinib), this way and missing 1 day, would be less effective?. I have been on remission for past 3 years, and have been on negative response for some months, and I don't want to mess up anything, but the pain I have in my joints its quite difficult to cope at times, and I was just checking if I could try something different to help me to cope better.
Hi, and thanks for your reply. I know, that's what I was thinking. I have been on remission pretty much since I started the treatment, but then was unstable again due to a liver inflammation. When I had to stop all together. They put me on Dasatinib. After that, and ever since I have been on 100mg. I feel pretty rubbish all the time, in pain( as I suffer from joint pain for a long time). The meds seem to increase my sensitivity and I am in pain pretty much all the time. That's why I was asking the Heamatologist if there was something I could do. So she told me to try this option, of alternate the medication, and skip 1 day. I have also been trying with half of the dosage( 50mg), daily, but that still leaves me feeling in pain and inflamed. So I have gone back to do full 100mg ( like Monday, then having a rest on Tuesday, back on Wed, and so on). Will see if that helps me. As you can imagine, I live in fear, that my numbers might increase if I don't keep dosage, I also want to feel a bit more of normality, by been able to do more stuff, without the pain, or condition worsening., or what they call it " a happy medium". Thanks for your comments. I shall keep on trying 😊
Sorry but I think you need to change you doctor he or she is a bit of a nut job .Less is more with Dasatinib you could cope on 20 mg now I think .100 mg is far too toxic no wonder you feel bloody awful .Its your body don’t be afraid to take charge of it .
Hey, thank you for your suggestions. Yeah I always feel in pain, as if my body is slowly breaking down. I have a very good nutritional diet, and think thats been one of the reasons I am not worse still. I am going to have to have a good discussion about my situation with my heamatologist. Thanks once again.
