Thyroid and/or Adrenal Fatigue

Hello,
First off, thank you for saving all 200 some pages from the old American forum that closed. I was on page 60 something looking for thyroid/adrenal fatigue articles. Found a few thyroid but so for no adrenal ones. Secondly, thank you for taking us in. It's wonderful to have a place to share concerns and be supported in a tried and true format.

My latest issue is absolute exhaustion after very little work.... running a couple of errands and making dinner. Sore legs from maybe 3 hours on feet and a very long hike up a hill and back down for a seasonal job, Sunday. My digestive, excretory system aren't working properly either.

Last time my thyroid was check the tsh 3 and 4 were a little low but still in range.

I want to be able to work 5 or 6 hours a couple days a week but it's not looking good at this point. I'm seriously thinking about getting a disability tag for the car so I don't have to walk so far.

Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

HI Dona,

low thyroid issues can be a problem... even without TKI therapy added to the mix. You might want to get your T3 levels tested which may be a better indication of hypothyroidism. I think TKIs are thought to have an effect on the thyroid.

Adrenal function is also indicated here as 'stress' of any kind over the longer term (and a diagnosis of CML is a big stress added to life in general) can affect the function of the adrenal glands, that can result in 'adrenal exhaustion'. There are some good supplements out there that you could consider.... I have used 'adrenal support' preparations and found them very helpful.

I know some endocrinologists who do not follow the status quo advise to get the adrenals working as well as you can before adding thyroid meds - i.e replacing T3 and/or T4. This is a UK company but just as an example you could take a look at the options for trying supplements: nutriadvanced.co.uk

It's a complex issue and needs some research on your part..... luckily there are a few patient support sites that can help. HealthUnlocked.com is a good one.
