Joint pain - sciatica?

Hi all.

Quick question, how many of you had some joint pain later on in treatment, I am almost 5.5 years in on Tasigna borderline MR4 and noticed aches and pains in various joints. I am 43 so not that old or young haha.

I’ve had a fairly bad sciatica for 2 months which may or may not be TKI related but I do know that they can play havoc with muscles, joints and bones. Just wondered if people noticed this things crop up later on in treatment?

Many thanks
Al

Alex - No joint pain, but I do get pain/soreness in my left hip. I think TKI made my hip age or something because I feel it when it is raining outside and/or if I go on a long run.

Yes I also get hip pain on the left side since starting TKi. It comes and goes. Every twinge is since TKi lol.

Hi, I also take Tasigna 3 years and my joints hurt, especially the left hip.

Hi Alex, yes plenty of joint pain ,I am 6 years in .Just had both my hips xrayed left one is worse than right one ,shoulder and neck pain ,back pain is worse .I have to take Zapain to keep going .Been referred to a musculoskeletal specialist to see what’s going on .I am 66 and always kept fit and active ,but now I feel 90 .

Hi Alex,

In fairness to the medication ( Nilotinib) it does state muscle and joint pain are common, but like you I’ve respected the benefits of the medication, it’s a lifesaver, but there’s got to be things that the body reacts to in different ways.

. On a lighter note my hair was greyer 10 years ago than what it is now, on a more serious note I’ve not touched alcohol in nearly 8 years, since diagnosis, yet on my quarterly consultations my haematologist comments my liver readings they keep “ flagging” up plus trouble with the gallbladder! Not complaining, overall I feel the plus points far outweigh the alternative!

Look after yourself Alex!

Hey Pete mate good to hear from you and hope you worked out the diabetes scare?

Yeah my question was more had anyone experienced it much later in treatment because until now it’s not really been an issue. I am getting pretty constant pain in my left butt cheek bone (the hip?) and the elbow on the right arm. At one point I couldn’t lift a mug due to the pain, that’s subsided quite a lot now though.

Cheers
Al
