Antidepressants

Does anyone taking Tasigne take antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications? How do you cope? Has it helped? What are your experiences?

Hi there,

I have been on Tasigna for 8 years this year. Recently switched to generic Nilotinib by the pharmacy.

I have been taking Sertraline 100mg for over 2 years for what I thought was general anxiety disorder and a mild bout of depression. I don’t really suffer from depression.

Turns out my anxiety is because I have Autism Spectrum Disorder and not GAD. I was diagnosed just last month, and it’s been a positive diagnosis so far unlike CML haha. I felt all my life I didn’t get the manual for life and now I know why everything was so hard lol.

I’ve been fine on the Sertraline but I am looking to come off soon now that a lot of stressors have gone.

There are no interactions with Nilotinib and the symptoms of Sertraline passed a long time ago.

If you need anymore info just shout. Also worth mentioning bloods have remained spot on too.

It is also worth mentioning that anti depressants can take months to really stabilise and kick in and their is a period at the start where you may feel worse. Unfortunately that’s how it goes with these pills. It’s important also not to miss a dose as you will feel off.

I did try to come off them about a year ago but life was very difficult at the time. That wasn’t very nice at all coming off, other than the obvious mood changes I was extremely dizzy for about a month. I tapered down slowly over 4 weeks but still hit me very hard. I am told they’re difficult to come off.

I will say they work though but they will take time to kick in, I’d say min 3 months for me it was more like 5-6 months.

Thank you for your reply. I'm dreading this period of adaptation to medication. I've made an appointment with a psychologist and hope the therapy will help a bit. Let me know how you feel after taking the generic medication, as I'll be starting the same thing in February.
