for Tamaguci - Itchy eyes- Homeopathy-

Hi Tamaguci,to answer your question from the discussion thread on the side effect of 'sore eyes' further down the page....

Homeopathic remedies are safe to use, and yes i have used them during and after my therapy with Glivec to counter the side effects and also during my stem cell transplant to offset the effects of chemotherapy drugs.
Homeopathy can be used as a complimentary therapy. you can buy Euphrasia in tablet form (hard or soft) or in tincture form which would be best for an eye bath for soothing the eye symptoms you describe. however i think that generally it is best to start by using Hypericum and Calendula (HyperCal) tincture to counter this side effect, this is also good for soothing the skin, cleaning and healing wounds and helping with throat infections etc. (use as a gargle/mouth wash)

i suggest you try to learn a little bit about using the remedies by taking a look at one of the websites i suggested. you can order the remedies through these sites...

www.helios.co.uk/
or
www.ainsworths.com

hope this helps,
Sandy ;o)

I am no expert on this (I was diagnosed with CML only a month ago) so I will throw this comment so somebody else might advice. It is my understanding that Hypericum (St John's Wort) is one of the few natural remedies that can not be taken with Glivec. Does this apply only to ingesting it?

hi Fernando,
yes, taking herbal supplement of St. John's Wort is contraindicated with taking Glivec.... and maybe other TKI's like Sprycel (dasatinib) and Tasigna (nilotinib)?

however... using homeopathic remedies -in this case a mix of 2 drops of tincture in an eyebath... will not affect your assimilation of Glivec.
you can also take homeopathic remedies without problem... as the doses are infinitesimal.... this is why most allopathic clinicians do not see how they can possibly work apart from having a placebo effect.

i use homeopathy to counter the effects/symptoms of colds and flu and also some topical irritations like described in this thread.
but that is my personal choice and i would stress that if yo are not sure you should consult with someone you feel you can trust before you use this system of medicine.
best wishes,
Sandy ;o)
